The DGT will temporarily deregister all vehicles of which it is aware that have been damaged by Dana, with the aim that the owner of the affected and out-of-circulation vehicle does not have to pay the circulation tax on December 1. January 2025.
The General Directorate of Trafficfollowing Royal Decree-Law 6/2024 of November 5, which adopts urgent response measures to the damage caused by DANA in different municipalities of the Valencian Community, Castilla-La Mancha, Andalusia, Balearic Islands and Aragon, between October 28 and November 4, 2024, has issued an instruction in which It makes it easier for those affected by floods to process certain procedures related to the vehicle or driving license. To this end, several channels have been opened for the submission of applications for the different procedures and the documentation to be provided has been reduced, reducing it to a responsible declaration.
Where to do the procedures
The channels enabled by the DGT to present requests for these extraordinary procedures are telephone 060mainly for people who do not have telematic means, DGT website, where the request will be made through a form and which will be available in the coming days, and at the Provincial Traffic Headquarters of Valencia.
Furthermore, to request temporary withdrawals from the vehicle, administrative managers, collaborators of the administration in terms of the processing procedure, are added to these aforementioned channels.
What are the extraordinary procedures
The DGT will note a temporary leave from office for all vehicles known to have been seen affected by DANA. You will obtain this information through the Insurance Compensation Consortium and the corresponding authorities of the Valencian Community.
For those vehicles not identified by the Consortium or the authorities of the Generalitat as affected by the DANA, the interested party, while the compensation files for the damage to the vehicle are being managed or its repair is being managed, You may request temporary leave through the aforementioned channels. This procedure will be free.
The objective of this temporary leave is benefit the owner of the affected and off-road vehicle who does not have to pay the road tax on January 1, 2025. In this administrative situation, said tax is not generated. The driver does not have a driving license

The holder will only need to responsibly declare that their driving license has been affected by the DANA that occurred in October 2024.
If you want to deregister the car
Once the vehicle is locatedif the user, in view of the damage, decides to withdraw it from circulationyou must call an Authorized Environmental Treatment Center for its destruction.
These centers are the only ones authorized to decontaminate and destroy vehicles in accordance with environmental criteria and will issue the corresponding destruction certificate that they will deliver to the owner of said vehicle.
Once the information on the definitive deregistration of the vehicles is recorded in the DGT Vehicle Registry, it will be provided to the town councils to update their fleet and manage the road tax.
