The Sierra de Guadarrama It separates Madrid and Castilla y León, and gives hikers wonderful landscapes of pure nature. However, hidden among the vegetation, we will find many other less popular waterfalls, but just as fascinating. It is the case of the Cancho Litero Waterfallwhich we can reach with a low difficulty itinerary.
Route to the Cancho Litero waterfall
The hiking route to the Cancho Litero Waterfall has a duration of about 4 hoursin which we will travel about 10 km. The starting point is the Los Llanos urbanization in the municipality of Villavieja de Lozoya. Specifically, we can leave the car parked at the end of the town, in the northern area.
We will start walking along a path, the path of Gallegoswhich takes us to a dirt track. Soon we will see a bridge with which we will cross the old railway tracks that linked Madrid with Irun. We continue for about 2 kilometers enjoying the views of the mountains and immerse ourselves in a leafy oak forestpassing through the plain of La Cruz and then through the Matahambre meadow. With a stone bridge we cross the Oak Creek and we continue along the track until we reach a crossroads.
In this case, we turn right to begin the wildest section along a pine forest with some obstacles such as fallen logs and the Espino stream in the middle. We will cross the water channel and follow its course along its right bank. After leaving the forest, you will have to start climbing a steep slope. Finally, we will have before us the beautiful postcard that forms the Cancho Litero waterfall: a waterfall surrounded by vegetation that flows into a small natural pool.
After taking photographs, admiring the landscape and resting, we will make our way back and retrace the path until a fork that we will take to the left and will take us to the path of the Cañada de La Solana that ends at the starting point.
