Iberdrola has teamed up with the Italian steel giant Acciaierie Venete to provide it with green electricity, as reported this Thursday by the Spanish group in a statement. Specifically, Iberdrola and Acciaierie Venete have signed a green electricity purchase and sale agreement (PPA) for a capacity of 12 megawatts (MW).
The alliance contemplates the supply of green energy from one of Iberdrola’s photovoltaic plants, currently under construction, for a total of 230 gigawatts/hour (GWh) throughout the contract period.
The energy supplied will help reduce annual CO2 emissions by around 6,960 tonnes, the equivalent of absorbing carbon dioxide from around 64,000 trees and covering the energy needs of around 5,800 homes.

The electricity company chaired by Ignacio Sánchez Galán also maintains alliances through PPA with companies such as Amazon, Meta, Google, Telefónica, Mercadona, Holcim, Heineken, ABInBev, Apple, VW-Seat, Mercedes Benz, Burger King, Bayer or Renault, among others. other companies.
In Italy, the company is investing in industrial decarbonization and renewable energy solutions for the country’s ecological transition and energy security and, with a portfolio in the country of almost 150 projects, Iberdrola will reach 400 MW of installed capacity in 2025, contributing to the sustainability and decarbonization objectives of the Italian industrial sector.
