Natulim has received a aid from the European Union of 900,000 euros to promote its ecological detergents. The Catalan startup, founded by Lluís Montull and David Weisswill use these resources to research new sustainable cleaning solutions. A part of these resources will be allocated to the creation of a technology center in its facilities.
The company plans to close 2024 with a turnover of 10 million euros, double what it obtained in the previous year. “The national market continues to be our main sales focus, but the international market continues to grow,” Montull points out.
Also works to expand its presence in the main supermarkets. They already distribute through chains such as Alcampo, El Corte Inglés and Bonpreu and are in negotiations with Eroski and Carrefour.
“Evolution” of detergent
Natulim came to the market in 2021 with a first format of biodegradable strips that are 100% plastic-free. This “evolution” of the conventional detergent is focused on the private customer, since the industrial customer has processes that make it difficult to use this solution in strips.
The company has a own plant in Taradell (Osona, Barcelona)where it manufactures about 100,000 boxes per month, and has about 45 employees. For now, Montull advances that they do not plan to open a new production center.
This despite the fact that the group has evolved to offer “a full range of home care“ which includes, among others, dishwasher tablets, scented beads for clothes or a clay for dry cleaning.
“With detergent strips we consume 15% of water compared to 90% with conventional detergents,” explains Montull. In addition, the packaging itself is biodegradable to further increase its efficiency.
Natulim is also a washing alternative for sensitive skin of newborns or for cases of atopic dermatitis. In Spain it is estimated that more than 30,000 adults suffer from it and 60% of those affected start it in the first year of life.
