The Court of Instruction number 47 of Madrid has suspended the statement of Elisa Mouliaá, the actress who denounced Íñigo Errejón for alleged sexual crimes, at the request of his lawyer. The investigating judge, Adolfo Carretero, has rescheduled the witness’s statement to next Tuesday, November 12 at 9:00 a.m., making it coincide with that of the accused, who will testify starting at ten.
The reason that led Mouliaá’s lawyer to request the suspension of her client’s statement has to do with her strategy in the judicial process. As reported Article 14the lawyer has asked for “more time” to prepare the case given that they have joined more women who want to report. There would be 16 victims, including the actress, “from different cities.”
The scandal around Errejón broke out on October 24, when Sumar’s spokesperson in Congress announced his resignation following anonymous complaints collected by journalist Cristina Fallarás. That same day, late in the afternoon, actress Elisa Mouliaá publicly acknowledged that she had suffered an episode of “sexual harassment” by Íñigo Errejón. The next day, Friday, October 25, Mouliaá went to the police station to file a complaint against the politician.
The Family and Women Unit (UFAM) of the National Police was in charge of collecting the victim’s testimony and sent it to the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid (TSJM). By turn of distribution, the matter was left in the hands of the 47th Court of Instruction of the capital, led by Judge Adolfo Carretero; According to legal sources, he received the complaint on Monday, October 28, exactly eight days ago.
The first step that the magistrate took as soon as the matter was on the table was to send a letter to the Congress of Deputies so that the Lower House would confirm Errejón’s resignation from the seat. Hours later, on the afternoon of the 28th, Congress confirmed that Íñigo Errejón was no longer certified. Had he remained in office as a deputy, Errejón could only have been tried by the Supreme Court. This is the case, without going any further, of José Luis Ábalos, who cannot be tried for the Koldo case in the National Court.
But Judge Adolfo Carretero was able to confirm last Monday that Errejón is no longer a deputy, and has now summoned him to testify as a defendant. One hour before listening to Sumar’s former spokesperson, the instructor will take a statement from actress Elisa Mouliaá so that she can ratify in court the complaint she filed at the police station. Once the victim has been heard, next Tuesday Carretero will question the accused.
The complaint filed by the actress relates a meeting between Mouliáa and Errejón in September 2021. He invited her to the presentation of his book, and there they met for the first time. At the end of the event, Errejón invited him to have a beer, and then she took him to a party at a friends’ house. On the way to the house, he told her that he was going to impose “three rules” that night: “The first, that she should not go too far from him; the second, that if she did, she should not go more than twenty meters from him and to come back in a minute; and the third time, to give him a kiss.”
At that moment, as she later explained to the police, the actress felt “violated,” but she remained silent and they both continued on the way to the party. Already in the elevator, Errejón grabbed her “tightly by the waist” and He kissed her “in a violent way”. According to Mouliáa’s story, they were both dancing, drinking and chatting with those attending that party, but the moment she began to dance with a friend of hers, Errejón began to suffer “an attack of jealousy.”
His reaction was to grab the actress’s arm and take her to one of the rooms of the house. Immediately afterwards, always according to the testimony of the complainant, the deputy “he bolted the door” to prevent Mouliaá from escaping. He began to touch her, pushed her onto the bed and “took out his penis.” She managed to stop Errejón, but with the condition – which she agreed to – of leaving for the politician’s house after 20 minutes. The harassment continued there, according to Mouliaá.
