The second feature film by Rafa Cortés, Dawn in Samanais a unique work that was filmed without a script, relying on the improvisation of the actors. The protagonists are Luis Tosar, Luis Zahera, Luisa Mayol and Bárbara Santa-Cruz.
They play two couples who go on vacation to celebrate the twenty years they have known each other. The joy of the meeting and the alcohol make one of them, Ale, tell the rest how she manipulated the situation to end Santi, who had initially flirted with Natalia, while it was Mario who was trying to flirt with her.
Ale assumes that, after twenty years of relationship, they will take his confession as the little prank that was the first step towards everyone’s happiness. But things don’t turn out that way, and the night ends in great disappointment. The next day, Ale wakes up with a strong hangover, somewhat confused, without the slightest clue as to the extent to which she will have to face the consequences of her action.
Shot in Samaná, in the Dominican Republic, in strict chronology to promote a work process based on the improvisation of the actors, the film “is a dramatic comedy that shows us how our destiny and the people who are part of it interact and affect, and influence in unexpected ways”.
