Apple released beta 2 of iOS 18.2, offering an interesting preview of the next update that should arrive soon on compatible iPhones around the world. The expected new features are numerous and substantial, although it is worth remembering that all functions based on Apple Intelligence will receive support for languages such as Spanish, French, Chinese and Japanese in the course of 2025. Currently the AI system is available in most regions ; including Spain and Latin America.
Most anticipated new features of iOS 18.2
Thanks to the second beta version of the update, the landscape of features that will be introduced with the public release is already quite defined:
- iPhone 16 Camera Button: It will lock exposure and autofocus settings (AE/AF lock) from Settings > Camera > Camera Control and can be operated with a light press. You can also choose the speed of the double tap to slow down the sensitivity to two levels.
- Find My: Now you can share the location of an AirTag with a trusted person or even with an airline, which is not a bad tool for finding lost luggage during a trip. The option allows the user to create a temporary link that shows the location for a week; In addition, the option is introduced to add data such as the telephone number or email address that can be recovered along with the AirTag to facilitate return.
- Icon display: It is improved with dark mode, with colors now on a black background for a more pleasant and consistent contrast.
- Battery life: increases significantly and the overheating generated by the device is reduced.
- ChatGPT Plus: From Settings > Apple Intelligence there will be the possibility to easily switch to the ChatGPT Plus paid advanced user. If you stick with the free version, the limits for requests with ChatGPT-4 and the Dall-E 3 imager are clearly displayed.
In addition, other functions based on Apple’s AI arrive, such as Gemojito generate emojis personalized, Image Playground to generate cartoon-style images, and Image Wanda tool within the Notes app that will transform your sketches into realistic images. The update is expected to be released in early December.
