The French airline Air France confirmed this Sunday that it has decided “suspend until further notice the overflight of the Red Sea area“, following the “suspicion of sighting” by a crew of “a luminous object at high altitude in the Sudan area.”
This information was provided by the Air France account on the X social network after some profiles noted that company planes were turning around or being modified in their connections between different points in Africa and Paris.
“As a precautionary measureAir France has decided to suspend flights over the Red Sea area until further notice. Consequently, the itinerary of some of its flights has been modified,” the French company explained.
“This decision was made after suspicion that a crew had observed a luminous object at high altitude in the Sudan area“, he added. Air France did not elaborate on hypotheses about this device, but noted that “it constantly monitors the evolution of the geopolitical situation of the territories it serves and flies over, to ensure the highest level of security“.
