The Government will approve in the Council of Ministers from this Tuesday a moratorium on the collection of the second payment of the income tax return for taxpayers residing in the province of Valencia. A measure that will benefit some 200,000 filers as estimated by the Ministry of Finance, and which is part of the response plan to the catastrophic DANA that has devastated several municipalities in the region.
“This is a measure proposed by the Ministry of Finance and its head, the first vice president, María Jesús Montero, to alleviate the economic situation of a population hit by this natural disaster,” says the department led by Montero in a press release.
The measure, which It is a deferral and not a ‘forgiveness’ of paymentwill benefit all taxpayers who have had to pay the 2023 personal income tax return and decide to split the payment into two dates. At the moment, the Treasury has not stated that it will extend this moratorium to those who paid their declaration in one go.

If that second payment has already been paid, taxpayers may request a refund, which will be paid “in the shortest possible time,” reports the department led by María Jesús Montero.
“With this extraordinary modification, the Ministry of Finance joins the numerous measures already promoted by the Government to accompany and relieve the victims of DANA, one of the worst natural disasters so far this century,” adds the released note. by the department of Montero. The Valencian delegation of the AEAT will enable a point of attention to assist affected tax professionals and will activate a telephone number and an email address to contact the Treasury.
