We live in a particularly hard and black moment. Possible to get worse if in just 24 hours since I write this reflection Trump is capable of winning the elections in the USA.
If the political and social environment in this country was already unbreathable, the tragedy that occurred in Valencia last Tuesday, October 29, has worsened it to unbearable levels.
It is advisable to try to put a little sanity and good sense into this madness and try to provide a point of didactic work in the face of so much hoax, manipulation and misrepresentation.
Society must know this because it would greatly change the direction in which to direct its complaints and indignation.
It has not been that long since we experienced a tragedy of much greater dimensions. In managing Covid, the government did what it had to do, declare a state of alarm and take sole control, thus preventing more deaths and suffering.
That brought him a shower of fierce criticism from the opposition and They even filed a complaint with the Constitutional Court which by ruling of July 14, 2021 declared unconstitutional.
How does that same opposition now demand that what they themselves overthrew before be done?
Society must know this because it would greatly change the direction in which to direct its complaints and indignation.
In the current case, the government of the nation has taken great care to take measures like the previous ones and has allowed, based on the state of the autonomies with which our praised constitution gave us, that the government of the Valencian generalitat be the one to carry out the reins.
Someday we will have to open the debate on whether this decentralized state serves as a corset in these misfortunes, but now it is not time.
That is where the citizens who started the fight yesterday should have directed their anger, towards Mr. Mazón with his double responsibility.
Mr. Mazón and his government turned a deaf ear until just after 8 p.m. when he sent his message to citizens’ cell phones.
The first is by not taking into account the warnings that were issued from the AEMET starting at just over 7 in the morning, signaling the red alert in the area, which by the way had exemplary behavior during the rest of the day in which all its spokespersons They were warning of this danger.
Given this, Mr. Mazón and his government turned a deaf ear until just after 8 p.m. when he sent his message to the citizens’ cell phones.
How many people at that time had drowned, or were at risk of doing so? How many could have been saved if it had been launched at 10 in the morning?
His second responsibility comes from his disastrous management once the tragedy occurred.
Even before it happened by deactivating the Valencian Emergency Unit which would have been vital, considering it a “chiringuito” of the PSOE and subsequently without resorting to what the state had the possibility of offering, such as the army, as the minister pointed out Margaret Robles with strong criticism on his part.
No, ladies and gentlemen of the extreme right and the extreme right, not all politicians are the same, some are having more responsibility than others in this crisis.
I observe with concern and there social networks are playing a very dangerous role, that these far-right messages spread like an oil stain on the mud.
I miss this didactic work on the part of the government, which I see in a dangerously prudent attitude. The truth must be pointed out again and again to stop the work of intoxication and manipulation.
And that dangerous message that “people save people” is not true either, first because in our society there are different peoples and second because the state in a democracy is vital for the protection of citizens.
I observe with concern and there social networks are playing a very dangerous role, that these far-right messages spread like an oil stain on the mud.
Hence what happened during the visit of the kings to Paiporta from last Sunday. The government detected this danger and transferred it to the royal house, advising against a visit. They didn’t pay attention and what happened happened.
As the mayor who was in the delegation later pointed out, she did not recognize any of the troublemakers who caused the riots as residents of her town, especially towards Pedro Sánchez.
They had everything prepared, including baseball bats and bars for attacks and what is more serious, someone informed them of the route that the procession was going to follow.
I think the time has come to clarify responsibilities until the end and whoever falls.
Because these situations end up endangering democracy itself and we cannot and should not consent to that.
Solidarity with the victims and with the families who have lost everything, yes, active belligerence to stop fascism and its accomplices as well. There can be no silence or ambiguity in these moments, because we have a lot, too much at stake.
Not one step back, colleagues, let us raise our voices against lies and manipulation and let everyone assume their real responsibility.
We live in dark, black times, but they are not going to break us, nor did they succeed in the past.
We will see.
