Indeed, we laugh a lot at the jokes, often vulgar or exaggerated, and the absurd situations that are created; also with the often clever insertion of some quotes from many famous anime and manga of the past. Today we still laugh when we think about the joke dedicated to Rank ½which, by the way, has also just seen the arrival of a long-awaited remake.
Despite the generally light-hearted tone of the series, there is no shortage of dramatic moments that can hit hard, like a blow to the stomach. The author proves to be very skilled at casually alternating lighter parts with more complex and, at times, introspective ones.
However, in the end, DanDadan It is above all a love story; the one between Momo Ayase and Ken Takakura, and this aspect is never forgotten, even when it seems to take a back seat due to the need to face the threat that looms over them. This love is treated with great delicacy and sweetness and is staged to perfection by the two protagonists, who, despite being able to deal with spirits and alien threats, always present themselves as shy and clumsy teenagers in matters of the heart. Some interactions between the two will touch even the toughest of viewers.
The biggest concern many manga fans had about their new animated adaptation was related to the rendering of the action scenes. Yukinobu Tatsu is, in fact, very good at capturing the dynamism of certain fights on paper, with impressive tables in terms of direction and setting. Fortunately, from what we have seen of DanDaDan Until now, the animation studio Science Saru (with Devilman Crybaby and Scott Pilgrim among his most famous works) is managing to do justice to the comic’s unique style, with animations that embody its essence perfectly. Let’s hope then that this first season, in theory of 12 episodes, manages to maintain such quality until the end.
DanDaDan It also comes at a peculiar time for the world of Japanese comics. Two of the animes shonen most beloved fights of recent years, My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisenhave recently come to an end. Even though their respective animated series are still behind schedule, many users already feel the void left by these two heavyweights.
Therefore, the work created by Yukinobu Tatsu arrives at the perfect time to fill this gap and make itself known thanks to the growing popularity of anime, also present in the Netflix catalog. The series is undoubtedly one of the most interesting proposals in the world of Japanese comics in recent years and, if the animated counterpart maintains the same quality as the manga, we are convinced that it will soon become one of the most popular anime in the world. near future.
