The Astillero City Council’s aid campaign for those affected by DANA has collected 4,500 kilos of essential products in one day, which are sent in a truck and two vans. The convoy will go to Albacete to be distributed from there to different points in Valencia, in collaboration with local support vehicles.
Neighbors, volunteers and families from the municipality formed on Saturday “human chains” at the Warehouse of the Arts to facilitate the loading and they said goodbye to the convoy amidst applause, the City Council reported. Throughout the day, volunteers joined the cause, including neighbors who were in the Market Square and who decided to “spontaneously” join in the work of loading and organizing the products.
The mayor, Javier Fernández Soberón, has shown through a press release his “pride in the collective effort” of the residents of the municipality. “It is incredible to see the dedication of our people, from young people to adults, and even children who have come to help with his parents. “We have been moved by everyone’s generosity and we have had to respond quickly so that this help arrives as soon as possible, without waiting for Monday.”
