Four days after the DANA that devastated the province of Valencia, the most affected towns are receiving help from thousands of volunteers who walk to the place. But not everyone has suffered the same fate. One of the places where help has taken the longest to reach has been Catarroja. The human wave of solidarity that has emerged among the residents of the province finally reached towns like Massanassa and Catarroja yesterday. In this last town, they are grateful for the help received from the volunteers and are making an effort to clean up all the damage but they still continue to remember the terror that was experienced on Tuesday afternoon when a torrent of water devastated the town without the neighbors having time to take shelter. One of those people who could not get to safety was Guadalupe, a pharmacy worker in Catarroja, who crossed to the tobacconist’s shop. that is on the street in front and the water arrived in a few moments. She found herself in water up to her neck and thanks to the pressure of the current, the door of the tobacconist opened and she was able to swim to a nearby portal and climb to the top floor. She is not the only one who was able to save herself at the last moment, José and Asunción, two elderly residents of Catarroja, went to the ravine to see the flood without imagining the level it would reach. In the ten minutes it took them to return to their house, the water appeared on their street and despite the first attempts to put a board with plaster on their door to prevent it from entering, the level grew uncontrollably and they had to quickly go up to the apartment. up so as not to drown. The level mark that the water reached in her house is 10 centimeters higher than her. You can see the complete testimonies in the video that accompanies this news.
