The Special Group of Underwater Activities (GEAS) of the Civil Guard has begun to enter garages in Benetússer where neighbors alert them that there are people still trapped by Tuesday’s flood. “Let’s see where they tell us there are positives,” they say.
Through the streets of this town of l’Horta Sud, seriously affected by the flow of water that devastated the entire region, cars and dirt accumulate. Also cars removed by neighbors, and among them you can see members of the Civil Guard equipped to enter areas flooded with water.
It is the locals themselves who alert them to areas where there may be lifeless bodies. The number is unknown, they themselves do not dare to give a fork, but dozens of bodies have already been seen leaving. «We are here to help. “I don’t know,” say basic life support soldiers who also work in these neighborhoods.
In addition, military machines have begun to clean the roads. Specifically, the Legion’s sapper regiments, who are cheered on by neighbors when carrying out tasks that they have been asking for for days. “We couldn’t move cars and debris, look how quickly they do it,” says Ana, a local who luckily does not regret any deaths.
