Leire Martínez asks “that they leave Amaia Montero alone” after her departure from La Oreja de Van Gogh: “I am no one’s rival”

Leire Martínez, now former vocalist of La Oreja de Van Gogh, has decided to sit down and speak in detail for the first time about the controversy caused by the statement that separated him from the band in which he has remained for 17 years. He did it this Wednesday in the new season of I stay with mea format from Mediaset’s on-demand content platform dedicated to mental health. In this space the singer traces a journey through the hardest moments of her life and explains her departure from La Oreja de Van Gogh. “Common sense tells you that if I have not signed the band’s statement it is because I probably did not agree with it,” he explains in the preview of the next installment.

“Amaia Montero has nothing to do with what has happened behind closed doors in this group, let her be left alone,” explains Martínez while highlighting that she is not “a rival to anyone” and that she does not plan to “be part of the war of others.” A declaration of intentions that distances her from the constant comparison and public rivalry against the band’s first vocalist, with whom she explains that she does not have a bad relationship: “Amaia and I have never been friends, we have been colleagues and I admire her deeply.”

In addition to hinting at not agreeing with the statement released by the group on October 14, the vocalist has also spoken about all the years she has been part of the band. “If anyone believes that in 17 years of living together everything has been wonderful…” says the artist. An outcome that Martínez would have refused to talk about in depth and about which he refuses to continue talking: “If I talk, many ugly things will be generated. “I was a little unconscious, I moved forward without considering anything.”

The artist has not only spoken about the separation process from Van Gogh’s La Oreja. Also about his personal life, his childhood and the stormy relationship between his parents, which would have conditioned his personal development and the first years of his adult life.

According to Leire Martínez, one of the tasks that has cost her the most throughout her life has been “setting limits.” Something that would have made “almost all aspects” of his life difficult, such as “family, relationships or work.” The first of the episodes, and the only one currently available, revolves around her childhood and relationship with her parents, who separated when she was 5 years old. “I grew up with a situation of a suffering father who is having a terrible time and a hurt mother who I perceived with a lot of pain, but also with anger,” he says.

A separation that would condition the first steps of his adult life, having to emancipate himself from home at only 17 years old: “I emancipated myself very soon, not because I wanted to, but out of necessity.” Faced with the pain of a separation and some complicated years of life, Martínez recounts one of the first moments in which she claims to have felt “loved,” when she was welcomed by a family to lend a hand with the care of the children. “The children gave me love without me asking for it. He made me feel like the most important person. That was the beginning of my healing. “They, without knowing it, have been key in my life and my recovery.”

The former vocalist of La Oreja de Van Gogh will continue speaking during the rest of the episodes of I stay with meand will do so with the help and support of Andrea Vicente, a psychologist specialized in emotional relationships, self-esteem and emotional management. There will be four installments in which the Guipuzcoan singer will open up emotionally with a deep reflection on her personal and professional career.
