Although we don’t see them, blind people also fill our phones with hundreds of photos. Until not so long ago, it was difficult to discard useless images
Technological advances never cease to amaze me. My grandfather died with the conviction that I would live to benefit from computer vision. Grandpa’s passion, I guess. But we are not that far away.
Meanwhile, we take advantage of the help that technology provides. Although we don’t see them, blind people also fill our phones with hundreds of photos. Until not so long ago it was difficult to discard useless images. We necessarily had to resort to a third person to help us decide which one to delete and which to keep.
There are already applications that describe images. My favorite today is Seeing AI, which recognizes images, offering a short description of them. Both in real time and from our photo gallery.
The other day, when my phone told me to leave free space in my memory, I had to delete some photos.
I opened the gallery, selected an image and clicked on the option to recognize it with Seeing Eye, the all-seeing eye. And I say if you see everything…
The first one I selected turned out to be a country landscape with mountains in the background… It left me very intrigued… Where had I gone recently with those characteristics? Discarded.
Then I tried another… Image of a door. a door? And why would I photograph a door? I asked at home and they told me that it was the wardrobe that we had sold second-hand a few months ago. We forget how many things we photograph throughout the year.
Suddenly… Taitantos blonde woman with the appearance of being happy.
Stop the pencil!
How many years old?
Clarification: the demon’s phone said the exact age, nailed down. Was this mathematical accuracy necessary?
The one in the photo turned out to be me at a family celebration.
It is clear to me, without any room for hope, that I look exactly the age I am…
With important, vital needs that could be covered by new technologies and this program grows thin with age. With the thing about happiness, the seeing eye no longer dared to make statements, that the procession usually goes inside.
