The Madrid City Council has expanded its public electric bicycle system, Bicimad. The Consistory has inaugurated 19 new stations in six districtswith 235 new bicycles added to its fleet, which now reaches 7,735 vehicles.
This expansion includes for the first time the neighborhood of El Cañaveralalthough the most benefited district is Puente de Vallecas, which incorporates five new stations, followed by Moncloa-Aravaca. In addition, San Blas-Canillejas will have three new stations, Villaverde with two and Fuencarral-El Pardo will add a new stop.
The choice of the new locations has been strategic, focused on the areas with high demand and the need to densify the already existing service. This is how the Bicimad map looks in Madrid:
