The Sumar MEP, Jaume Asens, and the former mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, have denounced an attack with tear gas during their visit to (Palestine) together with an “international delegation” coordinated by two associations of jurists and defenders of Human Rights .
According to their publications on social networks, the Israeli army has fired these gases “without saying words” while they accompanied some Palestinian farmers who were picking olives near Qusra, a Palestinian village in the northern West Bank.
“We thought that our presence here could be somewhat of a deterrent but that has not been the case,” Asens stated. “They have launched tear gas and deafening bullets at face level,” added the parliamentarian.
“Without saying a word they started shooting indiscriminately,” Colau also stated. on his Instagram account. “This is inadmissible and violates all international law,” he added. “What is intolerable is that the international community takes a stand, which is why we, this delegation, are here.”
The delegation, coordinated by the organizations Progressive International and the National Lawyers Guild of the United States, brings together legal experts, human rights defenders and international parliamentary representatives, according to Progressive International in a publication in X, collected by Europa Press.
