It seems that we had been wanting Errejón for a long time, and we didn’t even know it. You just have to see the viciousness with which we have stoned him in the last four days. The first stones fell on him for an alleged harasser and sexual aggressor, the following for being a hypocrite and a fake, for being a sexist disguised as a feminist ally, and for the unpresentable nature of his farewell letter; and from then on, stones continued to fall: for the damage it does to Sumar, for the damage to the left and feminism; stoned for the destruction he is doing to the government, stoned for giving ammunition to the adversary, stoned in anticipation of the future electoral victory of the right to which he is going to contribute, stoned for old betrayals of his political space, stoned for his time in Podemos , stones for having founded Podemos, stones for liquidating an entire political cycle and spreading discouragement among voters, stones from political rivals, stones from disappointed colleagues, stones from former colleagues who had it in for them…
I myself came to this article with my stone ready, indignant with the revelations of these days, but my hand has shrunk a little when I see the one that is falling on it. Let’s face it, I find the way in which Errejón treated women disgusting, as they report and he himself acknowledges (it is understood in his letter that he was a shit, despite the cryptic language). And if he is proven to have committed a crime, he must pay for it, and his victims deserve our full consideration. That said, I am impressed by the cathartic and righteous viciousness with which people and others shake someone who only a day before they considered a political reference, a valuable parliamentarian, a brilliant intellectual; respected by his adversaries in the dialectical combat, very highly valued by voters, and I suppose very appreciated by his own, both in his day in Podemos and now in Sumar, since they always placed him in positions of responsibility, electoral candidacies and nothing less than the spokesperson in Congress.
