More than a hundred Nestlé employees have joined together in a day of volunteering and awareness to clean nature from the so-called “garbage” in the surroundings of their work centers.
The initiative, promoted by the Company within the Libera project, promoted by Ecoembes and SEO/BirdLife, has made it possible to clean various natural spaces, collecting around 130 kilograms of waste.
Specifically, staff from Nestlé’s central office located in Esplugues de Llobregat (Barcelona) and the Nestlé factory in The Penilla from Cayón (Cantabria).
CLEANED SITES
During one morning, the volunteers have dedicated their time to clean the La Penilla de Cayón park and the banks of the Pisueña river in Cantabriaas well as the surroundings of the Llobregat river in Barcelona
“This commitment by Nestlé and its collaborators to nature is another step in our effort to preserve the environment. Because It is necessary to act and raise awareness about the problem of waste abandoned in the natural environment; In Spain we have the infrastructure through green points, containers, bins, among others, to be able to effectively separate and deposit practically all of said waste so that it can also be subsequently recycled. At Nestlé we have been promoting this change in behavior in favor of the planet for years,” said Jordi Aycart, director of Safety, Health and Sustainability at Nestlé Spain.
PROGRAM
This initiative is part of the program Nestle Cares of the company, a global initiative that includes the actions of volunteering that develop the employees of the company.
