The Memphis Grizzlies left behind the defeat suffered at the Houston Rockets’ field and triumphed at home 124-111 against the Orlando Magic, who arrived undefeated, driven by 22 points from the Canary Islands Santi Aldama.
Aldama, who had scored 27 points on Wednesday in the first game of the campaign, had another great performance in front of his home crowd after a difficult day against the Rockets. To his 22 points he added seven rebounds and five assists in 27 minutes off the bench.
Coach Taylor Jenkins recovered Jaren Jackson and gave him a starting place in the quintet, but Aldama offered a brilliant contribution with nine of twelve in field goals and four of six in triples. He was the top scorer on his team. Jackson scored thirteen points and captured four rebounds, on a night in which Ja Morant had 16 points and ten assists.
The Grizzlies bench dominated with up to 66 points. In addition to Aldama’s 22, Jay Huff stood out with 18 points and Scottie Pippen Jr. with eleven points and twelve rebounds.
