He Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park is deployed in the north of Spain, filling the province of Huesca of spectacular landscapes that will leave us speechless. Some of the most popular places are Horsetail Waterfall or the surprising Ibón de Planalthough the options are endless.

A perfect example, and an ideal destination for a rural getaway, is Brotoa town with a mountainous character full of historic buildings and crossed by a river, all with the Pyrenees as a backdrop.
What to see in Broto
The town of Broto is located at the gates of the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Parkimmersed in a privileged landscape in the northern area of Aragon. The Ara River runs through this beautiful town from one end to the other, thus creating two neighborhoods that are connected by a bridge.
Walking through the town we will discover its rich heritage, where it stands out the Valley House and its 16th century defensive tower, which functioned as a prison for years. In fact, “the engravings made by the prisoners to combat tedium are still preserved on its blackened walls,” they say from the Broto City Council.
Also worth visiting the church of San Pedro Apóstol from the 16th century, which has a crenellated defensive tower. The temple is located at the top of a hillside, giving us perfect views of the valley. Its façade stands out with a semicircular arch and its transept with a simple wrought iron cross.
What to do near the town
On the outskirts of the town we can find other points of interest, such as the hermitage of the Virgin of Morillo and the hermitage of Saint Blaisewhich had an impressive altarpiece that today is in the Zaragoza Museum.
On the other hand, if we prefer a nature excursion, the best option is the route to the Sorrosal Waterfall. This spectacular waterfall is located in the ravine of the same name and is a tributary of the Ara River. You can reach it in just 5 minutes along a comfortable path that starts from the town itself and takes us to the base. We can also do a via ferrata which begins next to the waterfall with a 600 meter route, which takes us into the ravine and passes through a bridge, several stairs and a small cave.
How to get to Broto
He car ride from the city of Huesca To Broto is 1 hour and 15 minutes via the A-23 and the N-260. From Saragossa It takes 1 hour and 50 minutes on the A-23.
