The president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, and the president of the La Caixa Foundation, Isidre Fainé, have signed a new social work framework agreement for the 2024 financial year. With this pact, The entity will invest 225 million euros in social, cultural, education and research actions during this exercise in Catalonia.
In a statement, the foundation highlights that the investment figure has increased 38 million, 20%. Of the total 225 million, up to 100 million will be allocated to fighting child poverty, supporting social entities and facilitating the integration of disadvantaged groups into the world of work.
Meanwhile, health projects will have 57 million reserved, destined mainly for research and the new CaixaResearch Institute.
In a meeting held on Wednesday at the CosmoCaixa in Barcelona, Illa and Fainé sealed the agreement. This is the first in a decade, although the Foundation has maintained its investments during this period. In fact, The photograph made public is the first official photo of Fainé with a president of the Generalitat since Artur Mas.
“The signed agreement responds to the commitment of the Government to work for a more just and egalitarian society, that meets the needs of those citizens who need it most,” celebrated Illa.
“The increase in social investment in Catalonia shows the firm commitment of the La Caixa Foundation to society and the human and social development of all people,” added Fainé.
