“It’s the same as always, we’ve been talking about Ayuso for three days now.” This is how an authorized source from the Popular Party explains what happened in Genoa after the president of the Community of Madrid announced her decision not to attend the meeting with Pedro Sánchez in La Moncloa scheduled for this Friday. Ayuso has not only disavowed Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who said that it would be “a mistake” not to go, but has pointed out to the rest of the PP barons, who have met with Sánchez.
And, although everyone in the conservative formation has long resigned themselves to assuming the uniqueness of Ayuso Within the party, nervousness has settled in the leadership of a Feijóo who is weathering the storm.
The national president of the PP remained silent for 24 hours and only on Tuesday, forced by a cloud of journalists who were waiting for him at the exit of an event in the capital, did he briefly verbalize his position: “How can I not support Ayuso?” Feijóo said that everything was “sufficiently explained” and closed it, saying goodbye to the media: “I understand that when there is no news we have to invent it.”
