A footballer accepts three months in prison and a fine of 5,000 euros for breaking a rival’s nose after a match with a headbutt

The fifth section of the Provincial Court of Pontevedra, based in Vigo, has condemnedthree months in prison for the footballer ACF, accused of a crime of injuries, after he acknowledged that, in October 2022, after playing a soccer match, he inflicted He head-butted a rival and fractured the bones in his nose.

Thus, the Prosecutor’s Office, private prosecution and defense have reached an agreement and the accused has recognized the facts, and has accepted that sentence of three months in prisonin addition to the payment of 5,000 euros as compensation to the injured party and procedural costs.

The court has agreed suspension of the execution of the sentence for a period of 2 yearsin exchange for the defendant not committing a crime during that time, and for paying the agreed civil liability. In fact, 1,000 euros have already been paid, and another 1,000 euros will be paid before next December 15; while the remaining 3,000 euros will be paid in monthly installments of 200 euros.

The events occurred on the afternoon of October 23, 2022, after a match between the accused’s team, CDVincios, and Moledo CF, at the A Pasaxe field, in Gondomar (Pontevedra). When the players were heading up some stairs to the locker room, the accused head-butted a rival player, causing him to fracture of the bones of the nose.
