He end of the social dialogue table that addresses the reduction of the working day to 37.5 hours in 2025 is very close, especially after the employers have not sent a response after receiving the latest proposal from the Ministry of Labor.
This was explained this Tuesday by the second vice president of the Government and Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Diazduring an interview in The time of 1. Díaz has advanced that “the process of the social dialogue table is coming to an end; we have made one last proposal that has to do with the substantial improvement of small businesses. The proposal is ambitious to accompany an improvement in productivity in small businesses. companies”.
The head of Labor refers to the so-called SME 375 Plana proposal prepared by its department to accompany companies that have less than 10 workers to move towards reducing working hours without affecting their activity or their economy.
In this plan, Work has opened up to reduce contributions of the new permanent contracts that are generated in small companies as a result of the reduction in working hours, and also the conversion of part-time contracts into full-time contracts to cover possible sections of the working day affected by said reduction.
“It is the first time that the Spanish employers’ association does not respond to anythingnow it’s time to make a move and decide if we reach the final process of the social dialogue table,” the vice president advanced.
The dialogue table, “on the exit lane towards Congress”
Díaz recalled that the dialogue table started in January, and that in February the employers and unions asked Labor to open a bilateral table, without the presence of the Government, to reach an agreement between the organizations. This table concluded in May without agreement and with the positions of CEOE and the unions very far apart, which is why they asked Labor to return to the social dialogue table with the Government.
Díaz: “The bosses’ diatribe is whether they want to represent companies or what they want is to do politics”
“Now we are in the final stretch. If there is an agreement, I am willing to continue workingbut it is in the process of leaving the dialogue table for the Congress of Deputies,” Díaz warned when asked what her department would do if the employers’ association still does not respond to the last proposal that was put on the table.
In any case, the vice president has insisted that she sees “margin for agreement”, but has warned the CEOE that “her diatribe is whether she wants to represent the companies of our country or wants to do other things that have more to do with politicsand not with social dialogue”.
