The strategy of the political and media right consists of deteriorate the political scene until an important part of the citizenry turns away with boredom and disgust, in the confidence that their electorate will always be more immune to toxicity and more disciplined before the ballot box.
Only in this way can it be understood that their spokespersons and leaders ignore the true needs and problems of citizens day after day, to fill the agenda with hoaxes and initiatives completely unrelated to what is important.
Neither access to housing, nor the quality of jobs, nor waiting lists in healthcare, nor demands in education, nor alternatives in immigration policy, nor climate change… None of these issues, which require political attention and solutions, are part of the initiatives of our right.
It is understandable that many citizens today view Spanish politics with boredom and disgust.
The task of political and media opposition now focuses on three quasi-exclusive topics: the false accusations against the family of the Presidentthe attempts to resurrect a terrorist group that has been dead for more than a decade, and the most absurd Venezuelan soap operas. They no longer even remember Puigdemont and the amnesty law, which a few weeks ago were going to break up Spain and break the rule of law.
The hoax-politics strategy has had three episodes in the last week, each one more delirious.
The main right-wing party called its leadership on a Sunday morning to adopt a vitally urgent decision, apparently. ¿About housing? Health? Education? No. About an audio recorded supposedly by a hooded man with a distorted voice in a pseudo digital medium, who accused the PSOE of all kinds of outrages, without providing any evidence.
On such a bizarre basis, the PP has filed an entire complaint with the National Courtaccusing the PSOE of illegal financing, bribery and influence peddling, nothing less. Without clarifying who financed whom, how much or for what. Recognizing that all of which is nothing more than “mere suspicions.”

Because? This has been clarified publicly by his parliamentary spokesperson: “Our objective is to oust Sánchez with all the means at our disposal.” And the dissemination of hoaxes is evidently a means very within their reach.
The second episode of the hoax-politics that advances in Spain at all rags has as its involuntary protagonist the State Attorney General. In an authentic representation of the world upside down, those who defend the criminal who attacks the Prosecutor ask for the resignation of those who defend the Prosecutor who pursues the criminal. Not even a Marx Brothers script would have dared to do such nonsense.
The third would also make for a good thriller movie. The PP declined to veto a law that transposed a European directive on criminal records into the Spanish legal system. He declined to do so in the process of Congressional amendments, in a legislative presentation of Congress, in the Committee on Justice of Congress, in the Plenary Session of Congress, in the process of Senate veto and amendments, in a Senate presentation, in the Senate Justice Commission… On seven occasions, then. Again and again.
However, when the president of the Community of Madrid and the harshest members of the media right reproached the PP for such a decision. Instead of giving explanations or apologizing for their vote, they attacked the Government that had voted exactly the same. Not only that. He also invented a non-existent veto in the full Senate, to reverse, once again forcing the Regulations of the upper house and the Constitution itself.
Hoax-politics applied to hoax-parliamentarism.
It is understandable that many citizens today view Spanish politics with boredom and disgust, as we said. But those who bet everything that these jaded and disgusted citizens will not know how to distinguish between hoaxes and truths, between mocking politicians and authentic politicians, are wrong.
