The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has informed the company that owns the Ciudad Real airport the opening of actions prior to a possible investigation of a sanctioning file in urban planning matters due to the possibility of it being used as a reception center for migrants.
In a letter sent on Friday by the Ministry of Development to the company Ciudad Real International Airport (CRIA), to which EFE had access this Sunday, the Communities Board has warned of the “seriousness of the consequences” of using the airport as a reception center for immigrants.
Therefore, in the coming days the Community Board will inform the company of the day to inspect your facilities and summons the company to the Ministry of Development, within a maximum period of five days, so that it “alleges what it deems appropriate” and informs the Administration of “how many actions have been carried out”, as well as the documentation that supports it. .
Furthermore, he warns that the alleged immigrant reception centerwhich would be included within a health-care provision use according to current urban planning legislation, does not fit into the endowment use described in the project of singular interest (PSI), as it is not a necessary equipment for the development of the activities of airport users.
And he added that, specifically, the airport master plan approved by the central government considers “expressly incompatible” to use the airport as a reception center for immigrantssince it describes the new residential, educational and healthcare uses as “incompatible” with the aerodrome.
At the beginning of the week it was learned that the central government is considering the possibility of opening an Emergency Reception and Referral Center (CEAD) for migrants at the Ciudad Real airport to temporarily serve people arriving on the country’s coasts. , since, according to sources from the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, these facilities currently have “marginal use.”
