Iñigo Martínez is recovering his best version after a last season in which he had few minutes, and he is already a fixture in Hansi Flick’s eleven. The center back is a leader on and off the field, especially with the young players, whom he guides on their arrival to the first team.
“The coach has trusted me from the first moment. I’m enjoying it and maintaining a good level. This year, I feel that I am in one of the best moments of my career,” says the Basque in an interview for the Sportsman’s Club.
“We have to help Lamine because in the world of football it is easy to get off track.”
“We try to contribute and help as much as possible to the young people who are coming up, so that they feel comfortable and are showing sufficient level to play for Barcelona,” says the defender about the newcomers to the first team.
In that sense, the author of the third of the five goals against Young Boys has spoken about his teammate Lamine Yamal. “We all know the potential it has, we have to go little by little with it. You have to help him because in the world of football it is easy to get off track. He is a boy with a well-equipped head, he knows what he wants, so we have full confidence in him, and well, let’s hope he continues at this level,” declares the former Athletic player.
The defender gives special importance to having a cohesive block. “When you form a good group, that is reflected in the game.” Furthermore, according to the centre-back, good harmony goes hand in hand with positive dynamics. If the environment is good, the results will surely follow,” adds Iñigo Martínez.
