It is one of the most anticipated video game events of the year. This afternoon at 7:00 p.m. (peninsular time) Microsoft will hold its Xbox Games Showcase, a presentation that in the company’s own words will include “news from our Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda and Xbox Game Studios studios, as well as titles from our partners third-party”.
It is estimated that the event will last two hours and will be divided into two parts: the Xbox Games Showcase itself, which will be dedicated to games from Xbox studios and other third-party companies; and the so-called Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct, which will focus on the new installment of this popular first-person action game.

In addition to being available on YouTube, Twitch and Facebook, the Xbox Games Showcase will also be simulcast on regional Xbox and Bethesda channels around the world. The broadcast will be subtitled in more than 30 languages, including Spanish. Likewise, there will also be a version with audio descriptions in English and sign language on this Xbox channel on Twitch.
Although the traditional E3 fair in Los Angeles has been canceled indefinitely, this has not prevented video game presentations from being held in recent days coinciding with these dates, such as the State of Play or the Summer Game Fest.

A difficult time for the Xbox brand
This year’s Xbox Games Showcase comes at a delicate time for Xbox, and despite having recently closed the purchase of the giant Activision Blizzard, Microsoft’s video game division is not going through its best moment. The drop in Xbox Series sales or the slowdown in subscriber growth for its Game Pass service are two indications of this.

On the other hand, the recent news of the closure of several of its internal development studios, including the highly regarded Arkane Austin (Prey) and Tango Gameworks (HiFi Rush), has dented the brand’s image among the fan community. Something to which we must add Xbox’s new strategy of publishing some of its exclusive titles on other consoles, such as PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.

Microsoft’s video game division has to regain its attractiveness and credibility, something in which the catalog of games presented in today’s presentation will have a lot to do with it. The American company has plenty of studies and games to do it, so expectations for today’s event are high. Among the most anticipated games are Avowed, Fables either Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
