The Government of Cantabria, through the Ministry of Development, Housing, Territorial Planning and Environment, will undertake the comprehensive rehabilitation of the old ‘Peregrino Avendaño’ schools from Liendo, with an investment of more than 1.7 million euros to expand the municipality’s infrastructure with new uses and house, among other services, the municipal library and play center, as well as an exhibition hall.
This is how the counselor of the branch, Roberto Media, has committed himself to the mayor of the municipality, Juan Alberto Rozas, during the meeting that both have held at the headquarters of the Ministry to analyze the main needs of the municipality in terms of public works and the environment , as reported by the Executive in a press release.
In this way, both representatives have agreed that The Ministry finances the renewal of the supply network in Iseca Vieja and Villanueva with an investment of more than 300,000 euros.
In addition, the counselor has informed the mayor that his department is already working with the Cantabrian Hydrographic Confederation (CHC) to carry out the cleaning of sinkholes in the Isequilla neighborhood, in the Ruanueva area, in order to avoid the flooding that occurs systematically every time it rains heavily in recent years.
Likewise, Media and Rozas have agreed to soon sign a collaboration agreement between the Ministry and the City Council to carry out thehe renovation of the Interpretation Center of the Forests of Cantabria and the ‘Arboretum’ of Liendo, with an investment of 48,000 euros, which will allow the Center’s signage to be renewed.
For his part, the counselor has highlighted the importance of these actions to respond to the municipality’s needs in terms of the environment and public works that help improve the services provided to its neighbors.
Meanwhile, the mayor thanked the Department for its efforts to carry out actions of great importance for the development of the municipality and improve the “day-to-day life” of the residents.
The deputy mayor of the Liendo City Council, Javier Villanueva, also participated in the meeting.
