Disinformation threatens journalism and democracy

For a long time, for journalists, facts have been sacred and opinions free. For a few years now, opinions have remained free, fortunately; But some have decided that they could also make the facts free, remake them, look for alternative truths, misinform, lie. Nothing threatens journalism and, consequently, society as a whole, public debate, elections, and the health of democracy as much as this phenomenon of misinformation.

The vast majority of press editors view the recent phenomenon of misinformation with enormous concern. We live off the credit, trust and credibility we have with our readers, our advertisers and our suppliers. Ours is a business based on the reputation we generate in the environment to which our publications are directed. If the phenomenon of misinformation continues to spread as it has in recent years, its garbage will end up splashing the entire sector. A good part of the public will think that we are all the same.
