The president of La Rioja inaugurated this Friday morning the first Technological Congress ‘Ezcaray: Tech for future’. Gonzalo Capellán highlighted in his speech “digitalization and technology as the driving force of the future of the rural world and small municipalities”, while defining it as “a development lever with a view to the future and key elements for the structuring territorial”.
At the event, Capellán was accompanied by the mayor of Ezcaray, Diego Bengoa, the Minister of Economy, Innovation, Business and Self-Employment, Belinda León, and the dean of the College of Industrial Engineers of Aragón and La Rioja, Salvador Galvé.
«Digitalization and technologies have the challenge of serving for the transformation of agricultural and livestock activity in Europe, in Spain and in La Rioja, for environmental sustainability, for entrepreneurship and to activate that rural world, to establish population and to provide greater quality of life for the people who live in any of our municipalities,” stressed Capellán.
The head of the Rioja Government has referred also to depopulation and has shown himself willing to work “on all lines” that can help “the overall objective of establishing population in the municipalities.”
For his part, the dean of the College of Industrial Engineers of Aragon and La Rioja has highlighted the three “d”s, “digitalization, decarbonization and relocation” to talk about the “paradigm change that is taking place.”
In this sense, the ‘Ezcaray Tech for Future’ forum was born with a international characterthey have indicated in the press release itself, and with the idea of bringing together companies, experts and leaders in technology. In this regard, Capellán has pointed out that the objective is for it to be “a reference forum for technologies for the development of the rural world, not only in La Rioja, but throughout Spain.”
The congress was organized by dMillennial Rural Projects, La Picota Association, College of Industrial Engineers of Aragón and La Rioja, in collaboration with the Ezcaray City Council. «Technology transforms our lives and we must take advantage of that potential. “Ezcaray faces great challenges and this Congress must be an ally to attract talent, investment and development to our town,” said its mayor, Diego Bengoa.
The Congress was held at the Royal Theater of Ezcaray and has featured speakers such as Eduard Samá from Amazon Web Services, Óscar Martínez from the Rioja company Arsys, or Diego Luezas, from the Rioja company Aresol.
The two discussion tables that were held during the morning focused on entrepreneurship and business development in rural environments. For their part, the afternoon sessions have been oriented towards sustainable tourism in the rural world and data and digitalization.
