Unprecedented wave of solidarity to ensure that Angela Agudothe 24-year-old Valencian girl in a coma admitted to the ICU of a hospital in Thailand Since last October 6, after suffering a motorcycle accident, he has been able to return to Spain. His family, through a crowdfunding campaign, has raised more than 300,000 euros in just two daysenough to cover the medical bills, waiting for consular assistance from the Government to repatriate her on a medical plane.
«Thanks to everyone we have gotten the money. We want everything to be transparent and we will publish the hospital expenses with the invoices,” says the family of the hospitalized woman, who has a forecast of 10-15 more days in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Bangkok Samui Hospital, where the daily cost is close to 5,000 euros. The young woman has already undergone two surgical operations on her head, added to the “additional” obstacle of the “shortage of compatible blood” for Angela due to her blood group.
In the event that there is money left over, assuming that the Spanish Government would finance the repatriation process, the family has confirmed that will donate it to “some charitable cause” with its corresponding receipt.” “With every little bit you have achieved it, you are all part of this, millions of thanks to the supportive Spaniards, we are eternally grateful to the engine of this Ceciarmy”, in reference to the well-known content creator who has promoted the campaign through social networks.
Therefore, as his brother Diego explains, the roadmap involves knowing if the Government will make the medicalized plane to bring Angela back when her state of health allows it, or if they have to allocate part of the money raised to said cause, but at the moment she has not received a call from any representative of the central Executive or the Ministry of Defense or Affairs Exteriors.
«For us, any help is a lot, but above all we want this message to reach the Government of Spain so that they can contact us and, please, what they said The Government never left any Spaniard stranded outside of Spain is fulfilled,” he asserted.
The young woman’s brother explained that she remains stable, although she is still in a coma, and that in the last few hours they have performed a tracheostomy so that “she can breathe on her own.” The medical insurance that he contracted for this trip only covers up to 75,000 euros.
motorcycle accident
It was last October 6 when the young woman, along with her partner, suffered a motorcycle accident, just 40 meters from where their hotel was. They lost control of the vehicle and both fell to the ground: she was left in a coma and he has bruises and abrasions from the asphalt, and a fractured wrist and elbow but he is out of danger.
The family received a call from Angela’s partner telling them what had happened and they automatically set off to book plane tickets to travel to Thailand to see their daughter. «For us it was obviously something shocking, although we already knew what we were going to find. But well, in the end we have to be strong», commented Diego who returned to Spain without his parents, who are still in the country.
Since they made their situation known, the family recognizes that they are receiving a lot of support and have highlighted the support of the mayor of Godelleta (Valencia), “very dedicated” to them. “Everyone is spreading and sharing what has happened to us, and in the end that is what it is about, that it reaches everywhere and that everyone can contribute their little grain of sand.”
