Key event on the European scene
Last weekend, in the splendid setting of the Palazzo di Varignana estate, the second edition of the Elegance Competition of the same name took place, an event which has already become, despite being only in its second year, one of the unmissable events in the panorama of competitions not only in Italy but also Europeans too.
Under the organizational guidance of Massimo Dell’Olmo and the technical direction of Alex De Angelis, owner of the Promotor Group, the competition also supported by an exceptional jury led by Stefano Pasini, had a particularly difficult task given the extremely high quality and exclusivity of the 37 models invited to the event.
First prize to Ferrari
Time has helped this event which is proposed for next year with a small extension to the number of cars invited which will presumably be 50, and which also saw the presence of a large audience that was not only passionate but attentive and competent.
The winner of the Best of Show was Matildi’s 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB, impeccable in all its forms, but also worth mentioning was Fellini’s 1925 Bugatti T35A, Livon’s 1950 Alfa Romeo 2500 SS Villa d’Este, the Martinoli’s 1964 Porsche 904 and Baroni’s 1966 Jaguar E Type Spyder, all winners of their classes. But other cars also deserve a mention and in particular the Lamborghini Miura, a unique example presented by ASI and part of the Giugiaro collection, the particular Isotta Fraschini presented by Lopresto and, representing the racing world, the De Tomaso Pantera Group 4 with which Mario Casoni won the Giro Automobilistico d’Italia in 1973 driven by Silva.
The Concorso di Eleganza Palazzo di Varignana therefore adds a new piece of significant importance to a panorama of Italian events that are qualifying at an international level in the world of historic cars, confirming the liveliness of the sector and the interest that these jewels also arouse and especially in a large group of young enthusiasts, present at the event, who constitute the future of this world.
