Singapore, Ferrari 5th and 7th
With such a deficient qualification, for the Ferrari It was hard to dream big in the Singapore GP. Clearly, the 5th and 7th places achieved respectively by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz they were disappointing results if read from the perspective of Friday, when the Red was clearly the best car together with McLaren: Saturday however condemned the Monegasque and the Spaniard to a comeback race on the second worst circuit of the calendar after Monte-Carlo. Team principal Frederic Vasseur takes this into account and tries to salvage what can be salvaged from this weekend.
Vasseur’s words
“It was a great Sunday for us and a positive race from both sides of the pits. Maybe it was a little more frustrating because we compromised our weekend on Saturday, but overall the pace was good“, commented the Frenchman to Sky Sports F1. Vasseur, however, cannot hide his regrets: “I think Charles was on a par with Lando in the last 25 laps: it was a good recovery and in the end we bring home good points for this weekend. It was nothing magical, but starting from 9th and 10th place I think it was difficult to do a better job today“.
“We had the same times as Lando in the last 30 laps, we were with McLaren today and Friday, while on Saturday we were missing something. We’ll have time to analyze everything by Austin, but I think it’s positive to end the weekend on a good note.“.
A Look at Austin
Formula 1 now takes a month off, returning to the track in Texas on the weekend of October 20: “Now there’s the break and it’s nice to end like this”added Vasseur in this regard. “We will use the next few weeks to develop the car, like everyone else, and bring the latest update. We have 4 weeks ahead of us and we will do our best to try to compensate for the weak points of the car.“.
