The explosion in a building has caused a huge tragedy: an entire family under the rubble. A 6-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl died

At 7:00 this morning, September 22, a two-story building in via Tappia collapsed following a violent explosion, probably caused by a gas leak. Six people trapped under the rubble is the very serious toll of the disaster. The Zotto familyconsisting of a mother, father and three small children, and an elderly woman, the father’s mother, who lived on the second floor of the building, devastated.

Anthony Zottothe father, was the first to be pulled out alive, along with his youngest son, Gennaro, just two years old. Both were taken to the hospital. Antonio to the Cardarelli in Naples, in serious conditions, and little Gennaro to the Santobono, where he was admitted for monitoring and treatment. Hopes, however, were dashed for the other two little brothers, Autiliacalled Lia, four years old, and Josephsix years old, found lifeless under the rubble.

The search continues desperately for the mother, Vincenza Spadaforaand for the elderly grandmother of the children, who are still under the pile of debris. The firefighters are working tirelessly, hoping to extract their bodies, while the entire community of Saviano prays and waits with bated breath.

Antonio Zotto, a father, works as an employee in one of the stores of the “Supermercati Piccolo” chain in Saviano. The morning of the explosion, he was getting ready to go to work, unaware of the fate that would surprise him shortly thereafter. The collapse erased in an instant everything precious he had.

The community is in shock. The small town, where everyone knows each other, has fallen into deep and collective pain. Saviano gathers around the Zotto family, trying to comfort a father who lost everything in a few moments and who is now fighting for his life in a hospital bed. Hopes for Vincenza and her elderly grandmother grow dimmer as the hours pass, but the rescuers do not give up.

The smiling faces of Autilia and Giuseppe will remain etched in the memory of those who knew them. Two little angels snatched from life too soon, in a tragedy that struck the heart of an entire community.
