2024 has been a busy year for Tango Gameworks, creators of Hi-Fi Rush. In May, the news broke that Xbox closed the studio due to the poor sales of this title. However, a few months later Krafton bought them along with the IP of Chai and company’s adventure to work on a sequel to the 2023 title.
In one of its first statements on the situation, Krafton spoke of the decision that led them to buy Tango Gameworks. Company boss Changhan Kim said he is aware that Hi-Fi Rush 2 might not make them much money. However, it is not about finances, but about driving creativity in the industry.
‘It’s part of our intent. We want to continue developing games with the spirit of taking risks. Tango Gameworks are creative. They want to try something new and we want to do more of that. Making games is really a hit or miss industry and that’s taking risks. But having more projects is a way to mitigate that risk because one of them might work.‘ Changhan Kim assured.
