Over the past year we have heard multiple rumors about the successor of the Nintendo Switch. Now, a new leak has given us our first look at this console, confirming some of the biggest rumors. Thus, Everything seems to indicate that the hardware will be identical to the Switch we see today.
In the early hours of today, a site from China published a series of images of the Switch 2. While this leak shows us photos of the prototype of the console, here we can see a larger 8-inch screen, magnetic Joy-Cons, and USB-C ports on the top and bottom. These are all elements that have previously been leaked, and aspects that multiple sources claim will appear in the final design.
Along with these images, the leak also notes that The Switch 2 will have 12 GB of RAMa considerable increase compared to the original Switch’s 4GB, support for HDMI 2.1, and 256GB of internal storage. This also falls in line with multiple leaks we saw earlier in the year. Notably, the console is said to be coming to market with an LCD screen, rather than an OLED one, in order to avoid an increase in production costs, although an OLED model is not ruled out in the future.
Regarding the veracity of the photos, although at the moment there is no source that confirms this information, one of VGC’s informants has indicated that This leak matches details I had received from Nintendo in the pastFor now, we can only wait for more information to become available, but everything seems to indicate that the reveal of the Switch is approaching.
Although at the moment there is no clear date for the revelation of the Nintendo consolethis event is expected to take place before March 31, 2025. Meanwhile, the Switch 2 would reach our hands until the next fiscal year. In related topics, this would be the price of the console. Likewise, the reveal date of the Switch 2 is leaked.
Author’s Note:
These images look real, and they’re in line with a lot of what we’ve heard over the past year. While many are hoping that the console will have something special to set it apart from the current Switch, it looks like the Switch 2 will be a bigger, more powerful Switch, which many will be happy with, but it’s not a direction Nintendo will always take.
