The news was given by his brother Akyto
Noriyuki Haga is a rider who has left his mark on the hearts of motorcycling enthusiasts. The Japanese rider rose to prominence in the Superbike championship, coming close to the title in 2000 and 2007 on a Yamaha and in 2009 as a Ducati rider in an exceptional tug of war that saw him pitted against the rookie – and immediate champion – Ben Spies. The results obtained in the production-derived world championship also earned Haga the chance to race in the 500 class in 2001 with Yamaha and in MotoGP in 2003 as an Aprilia rider, seasons in which he failed to leave a particular mark after the podium obtained as a wild car in 1998 at Suzuka in the first race of the 1998 500 World Championship won by Max Biaggi on his debut in the half-litre (Haga also finished third behind Tadayuki Okada).
During his long stay in Italy, Noriyuki Haga also saw his sons Akyto and Ryota grow up, who started racing in the supersport 300 class in Italian Speed Championship. For some years the Haga family has returned to their homeland in Japan and the two Haga sons have continued their careers in the All Japan Road Racing national championship.
He lost his life on Sunday at Autopolis in the 600 class race Ryota Haga at the age of 21. Noriyuki’s second son started from fourth position on the starting grid, but due to a problem probably of a technical nature he remained stationary at the start, being first hit and then run over in an unfortunate and inevitable dynamic. His brother Akyto gave the news of his death through social media. Many Italian drivers who have participated and are still participating in the Italian speed championship (CIV) have posted a memory or a dedication to Ryota on their profiles. The editorial staff of FormulaPassion.it we express our deepest condolences in this moment of deep sorrow for the Haga family and for all motorcycling.
