Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle Team Statements
Speaking to Edge magazine, creative director Axel Torvenius said: “We do not encourage the use of weapons. It is not proposed as the main way to follow. The main way is always to use your wits and the whip.”
Tovenius says: “Indy has no superpowers. You can often see that it’s not easy for him to fight. After all, he’s a teacher and a slightly clumsy archaeologist. He just happens to have this passion that constantly puts him in these strange situations with enemies and traps.”
“It wouldn’t have been true to the character to have him constantly shoot all the enemies, and the team at MachineGames wants to emphasize the level of danger. We tried to capture that feeling that, if you have to engage in combat, it’s very dangerous to get hit. It is also very dangerous to shoot enemies.because they will have an alarm system and reinforcements on the way.”
Game director Jerk Gustafsson adds that “it’s a game where there are a lot of weapons, but you choose not to use thembecause it’s too loud and dangerous. You can take a gun and use it as a melee weapon. It’s a very Indiana Jones-like use of a gun.”
