Putin’s friend Medvedev is critical of Harris and Trump in the 2024 US election. He predicts a possible civil war in the USA.
Moscow – The Putin propagandist Dmitry Medvedev has warned of a “looming new civil war” in the context of the 2024 US election. The former Russian Prime Minister has little opinion of either the Democratic candidate Kamala Harris or the Republican candidate Donald Trump. In a post on his Telegram channel, Medvedev took aim at both.
According to him, there is no hope for either candidate that the sanctions against Russia will be lifted – except in the case of a “collapse of the United States”. Trump’s statements are merely empty promises, because he cannot oppose the “anti-Russian line of the notorious Deep States Trump, who has been described as an “extravagant, narcissistic type” and a “pragmatist”, knows, according to Medvedev, that the sanctions will have a negative impact on the “domination of the dollar”. But he lacks the strength to take action against them.
Putin friend attacks Harris – Trump spokesman uses opportunity for criticism
One can also expect “no surprises” from Harris. “She is inexperienced and, as her opponents claim, simply stupid,” said the Putin friend. “They will prepare beautiful, meaningless speeches and boring, correct answers to questions for her, which she will read from the teleprompter with an infectious laugh.”
Trump spokesman Steven Cheung used Newsweek the chance to shoot against Harris. “Putin supported Kamala Harris because he knows that she is a weakling for Russia will be,” said Cheung. According to media reports, however, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s declaration of support was meant to be sarcastic.
In the past, Trump in particular has shown himself to be close to Putin. He boasted of a friendship with the Russian head of state, which opened up more opportunities for him. Trump, who himself has spread the narrative of an “internal political struggle” in the past, has also provided fodder for Kremlin propagandists. The warning of a US civil war is certainly also inspired by the storming of the Capitol in 2021, as there is great concern about a renewed escalation in the event of a Harris election victory.
Not the first warning of US civil war: US officials hardened against Putin propaganda
Medvedev is known for his wild threats and warnings. A government representative wrote in response to a request from Newsweek: “We now know that we should not take Medvedev seriously. This is the usual Kremlin nonsense.” Medvedev has, according to Newsweek not for the first time before a civil war in the USA warned. On the occasion of the US Independence Day, which is celebrated on the Fourth of July, the Putin friend drew parallels between the current situation in the USA and a “premonition of a civil war”.
State television had also previously speculated about a US civil war. Putin-friendly political scientist Sergei Markov stated that a civil war would end the conflict in Ukraine within “a week”. Ukraine would then seek peace talks on its own initiative, according to the theory. He was actually hoping for a civil war in the USA. For Medvedev, too, a US civil war means above all hope – that the sanctions against Russia would be lifted. (lismah)
