Ferrari-Newey, Vasseur reveals the reason for the breakup: “We had different ideas”

Since last Friday Adrian Newey is free to sign the contract with theAston Martinwhich aims to officially announce his engagement in the coming days. The date circled in emerald green on the calendar, according to recent rumors in the British press, would be Tuesday 10 September, when the official presentation should take place.

It won’t be Ferrari

The marriage between Adrian Newey and Ferrari so it will not materialize this time either. The English engineer had put the Reds at the top of his priorities and the parties had discussed a non-full-time super consultant position. But the stalemate in the discussions occurred when Newey put forward to Ferrari the request to affect multiple levels, not exclusively the most exquisitely technical one, with the prospect of overlapping with roles and tasks already assigned.

In this sense an interview given by the team principal Frederic Vasseur to Frederic Ferret of The Team of last August 31st – and which went a bit under the radar – confirmed between the lines a irreconcilable difference of opinion between the parties: “Newey? There were discussions, yes. But probably his ideas were different from what I had in mind for him.. Maybe one day we will find a point of agreement. But as I said, it is not a single person who changes the result of a team. The group is always stronger than the individual”.

In the same interview, Vasseur then spoke about the recent movements in the Scuderia.
