STF Minister was the target of protests in cities such as Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Porto Alegre and Belo Horizonte
At least four Brazilian capitals saw right-wing protests against the Supreme Court justice. Paulista Avenue in São Paulo hosted the largest of them, with the participation of around 58,000 people.
The former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) spoke during the demonstration, which also made reference to September 7th. He called Moraes “dictator”.
“I hope the Federal Senate puts the brakes on Alexandre de Moraes, this dictator”he declared.
The impeachment process of a member of the Supreme Court, the main banner of the right-wing speeches this Saturday, is initiated by the Senate. It depends on the president of the House, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), who is the one who can schedule the request in the plenary.
The STF minister was the main target of attacks. Bolsonaro also said that the magistrate “it does more harm to Brazil” than the president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT).
Other capitals also registered acts against Moraes, on a smaller scale: Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Belo Horizonte (MG) and Porto Alegre (RS) are on the list.
