Padua, woman found strangled to death in bathroom: “It wasn’t suicide, her cell phone recorded and framed her ex”
While she was being attacked and strangled in her sleep, the woman left her cell phone’s audio recorder on, allowing investigators to discover the audio. which would nail the ex-husband to his responsibilities and they would dismantle the suicide hoax. The preliminary hearing for the 42-year-old from Abano Terme (Padua) that the Prosecutor’s Office has sent to trial as the alleged perpetrator of the aggravated murder of his ex-wife, which occurred in the spa town on August 2 of last year, is scheduled for September 17 in the Court of Padua.
The man, who has been in custody since last March when he was arrested by the Carabinieri on a warrant from the investigating judge, is suspected of having staged the fake suicide of the woman with whom he was still living at the time, a 39-year-old Moldovan woman, from which two very young girls were born. According to investigators, the version given by the man who called 118 at dawn on August 2, saying that his wife had locked herself in the bathroom from the inside and was not answering him, and that she was then found curled up in the shower stall, lifeless and with a belt tight around her neck, does not add up. And even the initial hypothesis of a suicide due to a difficult period, as claimed by the ex-husband, has been denied by the 39-year-old’s family and acquaintances, who instead have brought to light a picture of family tensions.
The turning point came, in fact, from the technical analyses on the victim’s cell phone who had kept her cell phone recorder turned on during the night between August 1st and 2nd, capturing all the phases of her murder and the staging of the suicide by her ex-husband. That evening, after a furious argument due to his jealousy, the 42-year-old had taken advantage of the fact that the woman had fallen asleep in bed and, surprising her in her sleep, had strangled her with a belt and then dragged her body into the bathroom and staged the suicide. Further investigations carried out in the house then allowed them to discover that, with the necessary expertise, it was possible to remove and reposition the central panel of the bathroom door, a circumstance that would have therefore allowed them to leave the room despite the door being locked from the inside.
