Anticipating the official announcement that will most likely take place during Quakecon these days, the page has been opened on Steam Doom + Doom 2who apparently will return with a new Enhanced Edition with new content and various improvements.
Considering that the page (you can find it here) is unique to both games, it is likely that both will be included in one package that will include Doom, Doom 2 and a Deathmatch pack with 25 maps and six bonus episodes, for a total of 187 mission maps and 43 Deathmatch maps.
Other news
We mentioned six bonus episodes. They will be “TNT: Evilution”, “The Plutonia Experiment”, “Master Levels for Doom 2”, “No Rest for the Living” and “Legacy of Rust”. The latter, according to the description, is “a new episode born from a collaboration between id Software, Nightdive Studios and MachineGames” with “new demons and weapons, 16 maps in two sections of 8 maps”.
In addition to the additional content, there will be a series of new improvements. Among these we mention the Online deathmatch with crossplay and Co-op mode for up to 16 playersmod support via a built-in mod browser, up to 4K resolution with improved multithreading performance, additional accessibility options, new supported languages.
Added to this is a improved graphics renderingmodern controller support, a weapon wheel for faster switching, improved mouse and keyboard controls, local deathmatch and co-op for up to four players, and a restored soundtrack using the original hardware.
At the moment we do not know the recommended price for this re-release, which we are sure will be attractive to many fans of the id Software and Bethesda series.
