Grave mourning for Iva Zanicchi: her partner Fausto Pinna has died

Fausto Pinna, music producer and partner of singer Iva Zanicchi, has died at the age of 74. Pinna, who had lung cancer, passed away during the night between Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 August. The funeral will be held on August 9 at 3:30 pm in the church of Santa Maria Assunta in Lesmo, in the province of Monza and Brianza.

Iva Zanicchi and Fausto Pinna met in 1987 and had never left each other since. In a recent interview with very truethe singer had spoken about her partner’s illness.

“He always smoked ninety cigarettes a day and we didn’t expect it. He seemed fine. After that terrible diagnosis, they gave him only two months to live instead… I’ve always had a lot of fun with him, and we’ll have more fun. Yesterday he wasn’t well at all, I went out on the balcony and smoked a cigarette. I came back into the room, I approached him to give him a kiss. He said to me ‘lazzarona, you smoked’. His tumor came from smoking”.

There were many messages of condolence for the singer, including that of Cristiano Malgioglio, who declared to Adnkronos: “Fausto and Iva were a very close couple, he was very much in love, he accompanied her everywhere, even to Rome during the period of Iva’s illness, he never abandoned her. He was truly a wonderful companion. I learned of his death this morning. I immediately sent my condolences to Iva, who responded immediately. She is suffering a lot. I am so sorry for her”.

Milly Carlucci, instead, wrote on her Instagram profile: “Dear Iva, there are no words to describe your pain at this moment. We can all only stay close to you with our prayers and our great affection hoping that you really feel it”.
