Pajón said that she received a request from athletes to put forward her name as one of the possible candidates in Paris for the next period.
“I received a request from athletes worldwide that they wanted me to represent them before the IOC. I was not aware of it, but I realized what it was and I applied as a candidate,” she told TIME.
She added: “Voting is currently open. Four athletes are chosen by vote of the athletes themselves and two by a commission. There are many programs that can be worked on, all with the aim of having a better condition of the athletes before the IOC,” said the three-time Olympic medalist.
Among the current members are important names such as the Russian athlete Yelena Isinbayeva, and cyclist Sarah Walker.
Strengthening the participation of athletes in the Olympic Movement and in decision-making processes, supporting the development of athletes in their sporting and professional careers are some of the objectives of the commission.
This will be another facet of Pajón, who plans to continue as an athlete and seek a spot in the 2028 Olympics, but in track cycling.
