In Turin, a 40-year-old woman was arrested on charges of child abandonment for leaving her 6-year-old daughter alone at home for over an hour.
According to the newspaper The printthe woman, of Peruvian origin, justified herself by saying that she had gone out on an errand while the child was sleeping. “I didn’t think she would wake up,” she explained.
But the little girl evidently woke up. Hearing her inconsolable crying, the neighbors alerted 112.
When she returned home, the mother found the Carabinieri waiting for her and arrested her.
