Dragon Age: Inquisition had an annoying problem with the camera, which chose not very pleasant angles during some dialogues. Well, the next chapter of the saga – Dragon Age: The Veilguard – it will be better in this respect.
This was confirmed by John Epler, the creative director of the video game, during a recent “Q&A” session on Discord, later shared on Twitter. The interesting part is that Epler was responsible for the camera management system that created problems in Dragon Age Inquisition.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard Improves Camera
The camera problem in Inquisition it was related to the fact that when talking to secondary characters the camera did not move closer but on the contrary moved away to allow you to see the entire scene. It is a sensible choice, except that sometimes the result was as you can see below.
Fans of the game criticized the matter and came various mods to solve everything. This won’t be necessary in Dragon Age The Veilguard, however, as the game will use “a more traditional cinematic over-the-shoulder camera.”
Epler defends In some ways this camera system he created – “it did what we needed it to do” – but he also suggests he knew it wasn’t appreciated by players, saying that BioWare “felt the camera feedback loud and clear.”
Of course, the camera is just one of the few details that will contribute to define the final quality of the video game. Another is the writing: in this regard, we know that Dragon Age: The Veilguard has the record for the amount of dialogues and characters for BioWare games.
